Description of Service Opportunity:
The Math teacher will teach English Learners in grades 9 - 11 in the Summer Discovery Program at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. The teacher will instruct students using thematic curriculum, the WIDA 2020 ELD Standard, and appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology. The teacher will plan and teach lessons using the SIOP Model of instruction and implement appropriate strategies for students with diverse linguistic and learning needs.
* Work: 25 hours per week
Minimum Requirements:
Requirements:
* Teacher Certification in Middle or High School Math required, ESL preferred
* The teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs, English language learning, and Sheltered Immersion methodology.
* The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be effective in working with immigrant families and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Education:
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in teaching math in Gr. 6-12
Experience:
At Least 2 years experience teaching middle or high school math and linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.
Languages:
Proficiency in English required, fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
Certification: MA Teacher Certification in secondary Math with SEI Endorsement grades 6-12

Contract:
July 1, 2026 to August 5, 2026
Contract Amount
Not exceed $5500.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
