Description of
Service Opportunity: CPS Summer programs include a four-week, academic experience for current grade K-4 (CPS SOARS!) students with demonstrated academic or language development needs. The Summer Program Lead, under the direction of the Executive Director of Academics, is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and management of the CPS Summer programs and summer operations at their assigned site. Specific duties include:
- Plan logistics and collaborative planning meetings for summer principal;
- Recruit and hire summer principal in collaboration with the Executive Director of Academics;
- Analyze screener data and create eligible student lists;
- Collaborate with department and program staff to develop program-specific themes that integrate with the district provided ELA curriculum and grade level focus standards for ELA and Math;
- Review and approve schedules and class rosters for camp sites, include staff lunch and prep time;
- Review and provide feedback on program budgets for supplies and enrichment activities, including field trips; and
- Design and facilitate pre-program professional development for summer teaching staff
- Program observation, feedback, and support during the session
- Program logistics
January 30–June 30, 2026 (program preparation & summer professional days);
July 1–31, 2026
Please note, there will be 2 separate service agreements created. One for January-June and one for July work.
Minimum RequirementsThe CPS Summer Program Lead must have a strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Cambridge Public Schools. Minimum of five years experience in teacher or leadership roles. Previous summer program experience and leadership experience required. Massachusetts DESE licensure in Early Childhood preK-2, Elementary 1-6, and/or Moderate Disabilities preK-8 required.

Contract AmountNot exceed $15000.00
Pay NotesPlease note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
