Summer Exchange Program in USA (Fully Funded)
The Broad Summer Research Program (BSRP), hosted by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of the most respected summer research programs for undergraduate students interested in biomedicine, genomics, computational biology, and related STEM fields. This fully funded nine-week experience offers hands‑on research, mentorship from top scientists, and professional development to prepare students for future careers in biomedical science and graduate studies.
WhatIs the Broad Summer Research Program?
BSRP is an immersive summer research experience designed for undergraduates who are passionate about exploring careers in scientific research. Over the course of nine weeks, students join Broad Institute research groups and work on cutting‑edge experimental or computational biology projects.
Participants also take part in skill‑building workshops, graduate school preparation sessions, seminars, networking activities, and scientific communication training. At the end of the program, each student presents their research through oral presentations and poster sessions.
The BSRP experience includes:
Full Funding- Free housing in Boston/Cambridge
- Full-time placement in a Broad Institute research lab
- Mentorship from world‑class scientists
- Opportunities to contribute to impactful biomedical research
- Seminars with leading researchers
- Workshops on communication, collaboration, and scientific careers
- Final research talk
- Poster session showcasing completed work
Key eligibility criteria include:
- Enrollment as an undergraduate student at a 4‑year institution
- Strong interest in STEM fields such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines
- Good academic performance (often around a 3.2 GPA or higher)
- Interest in pursuing graduate studies (PhD or MD/PhD)
- U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or specific work authorization may be required depending on the year’s guidelines
