Programmer Analyst

Responsible for technical design, implementation, development and maintenance of Truven products. The programmer/analyst will work with lead researchers in developing and implementing specific analyses for projects. Strong technical skills, attention to detail and a collaborative attitude are needed in this role.

This position can be located in Ann Arbor, MI;
Bethesda, MD;
Cambridge, MA;
Durham, NC;
Santa Barbara, CA or Woodlawn, MD.

• Collaborate with researchers on project specific analyses.
• Design, code and test software to conform to analytic specifications while adhering to Truven software standards
• Write clear external and in-code documentation.
• Provide input and feedback on any analysis plans and specifications, including time/effort
• Maintain and improve current processes, and methodologies
• Perform other related duties as assigned by senior staff

• Candidate must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the SAS programming language
• 5+ years SAS programming as well as experience with healthcare claims data
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytic skills
• Good at identifying and resolving any data issues
• Experience with Microsoft products
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Experience with formal specification and testing documentation.
• Able to work independently in a team environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Is able to collaborate well with members of team
• Is able to manage several tasks occurring concurrently

• Experience with data quality analysis
• Knowledge of other programming languages and/or packages as well as environments such as Unix
