SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance and support to both central office staff as well as field staff. This is an “on call” per‑diem position without benefits and with a restriction of less than 30 hours a week. Individuals who are tenants of CHA or hold section 8 vouchers through CHA perform moderate complex clerical work such as typing, filing, answering telephones, and various site‑related duties as noted below.
Duties are performed under the general supervision of a Department Head, Housing Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel. All activities must support CHA’s strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the goals of the assigned department.
Applicants must be a current tenant of the CHA or currently hold a section 8 voucher through CHA.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent and administrative/secretarial experience in an office environment preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Ability to speak another language other than English is a plus.
Technical Skills- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office). Ability to learn other computer software programs may be required.
- Knowledge of additional languages (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Cantonese, Amharic, Russian, Portuguese) is useful.
- Types materials and correspondence from rough copy
- Maintains filing system
- Answers phones and helps answer general inquiries related to the department or housing development
- Operates a variety of office machines such as computer, typewriter, calculator, photocopier, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Flyer Delivery – Delivers flyers/notices to residents as directed
- Elevator Assistance – Gives assistance to residents when elevators are out of service; must be able to make multiple trips up flights of stairs.
- Escort – Provides escort for unit inspectors and monitors activity
- Packing Assistant – Assists residents with packing to move; requires ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Measuring Assistant – Provides assistance to project managers by taking notes and holding tape measure.
- Open and close community room for meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
