* The Licensed Practical Nurse possesses knowledge and skills to perform practical nurse assessment, procedures, practices, and techniques at a level determined by the Qualification Standards and demonstrated competency.
* Provides direct nursing care to patients/Veteran in a variety of health care settings, including but not limited to:
* Demonstrating knowledge to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems.
* Demonstrating ability to serve as a responsible member of the health care team and interact with patients, significant others and co-workers.
* Documenting care provided observations, and responses on appropriate tools or forms.
* Integrate and apply aspects of the Joint Commission s National Patient Safety Goals as applicable to their area of practice.
* Maintain confidentiality of written, electronic, and verbal patient/employee information.
* Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Outpatient Clinic performance improvement program into his/her professional practice when appropriate.
* Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.
* Schedule appointments for patients in collaboration with team members to ensure that all patients are scheduled within time constraints established by ACA guidelines and VHA policies especially adhering to priority access for service connected and OEF/OIF veteran populations
* Returning phone calls, receiving calls, and take messages in collaboration with the teams members to ensure that all patients' management /care coordination are addressed in timing manner.
* Collaborates with team in completing two day post discharge phone calls and involvement in post discharge visits. Assist patients in preparing for upcoming appointments (lab, radiology imaging, and other diagnostic procedures) and ensuring patients knowing about appointments.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
