Position Summary
Extraction Assistant supports daily extraction and laboratory production operations within the CULTA Processing Facility while ensuring compliance with all applicable Maryland cannabis regulations and internal company standards. This role follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintains accurate records within required systems, and assists with material preparation, testing support, and inventory accuracy. The Extraction Assistant contributes to a safe, organized, and compliant work environment and promptly communicates operational issues, deviations, or questions to laboratory leadership as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Assists with material preparation for extraction daily and enters data into inventory management program(s).
- Works with the appropriate teams to accept biomass transfers to the processing license.
- Dispose of cannabis waste via the green waste procedures.
- Assists with preparing and organizing material for in-house and 3rd party testing when needed.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records in Metrc, Advanced Metrc, ERP systems, logs, and laboratory documentation.
- Communicate consumable and supply needs to the Laboratory Manager.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts and audits within laboratory areas.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, clean, safe, and sanitary for use.
- Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitation, and cleaning protocols.
- Ensure biomass inventory locations are accurate, organized, and properly labeled.
- Works as part of a team to meet production schedules.
- Assist with audits of extractable biomass and raw materials.
- Provide cross-functional support to other departments as operational needs arise.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with solventless, ethanol, and hydrocarbon extraction processes.
- Working knowledge of state and local cannabis regulations and ability to apply regulatory requirements.
- This position requires regular, on-site attendance during scheduled shifts.
- Employees must be punctual and prepared to begin work at their scheduled start time.
- Shifts may vary based on production demands, inventory volume, and operational needs.
- Overtime, early start times, late shifts, weekends, or holidays may be required as business needs dictate.
- Schedule changes may occur with short notice; flexibility is essential in this role.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
