Aecon Nuclear is currently undertaking efforts to replace key components at the Darlington and Bruce Power plants as part of each respective Life Extension Program to allow operation for another 40+ years. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, feeders, and steam generators as well as technical development, construction management and trade labour.

Aecon Nuclear is also at the forefront of the next generation of Nuclear Power in Canada by fabricating and constructing the first of a kind SMR facility in Darlington in addition to potential other new build large‑scale reactors among other exciting nuclear industry efforts across North America and Europe.

As a Lead Auditor this position reports directly to the Source Assurance Manager, and indirectly to the Auditing Supervisor, Quality Director and Quality Managers in Nuclear.

What You’ll Do Here

Plan, organize, and perform internal audits of Aecon’s manufacturing facility and nuclear project sites in accordance with applicable quality program manuals, procedures, work instructions, and Project Quality Plans

Conduct external supplier surveys and audits to assess compliance with quality requirements and determine eligibility for Aecon’s Approved Supplier List

Develop and distribute audit plans, 24‑hour memos, checklists, and reports for internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness

Communicate audit scope, plans, and requirements to Aecon management and suppliers prior to audit execution

Prepare and deliver comprehensive audit reports, including recommendations, observations, findings, and restrictions, to relevant stakeholders and management

Submit complete audit packages (audit plan, 24‑hour memo, completed checklist, and report) to the Auditing Supervisor for review and to the Quality Coordinator for record retention

Supervise and provide guidance to Auditors and Technical Specialists during audits to ensure compliance with procedures and standards

Support corrective action processes by reporting findings, tracking resolutions, and verifying effectiveness of implemented actions

Perform and document Verification of Effectiveness (VoEs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), and Apparent Cause Analysis (ACAs) as part of the audit and corrective action process

Generate, and provide assistance with the closure of internal and external audit corrective actions as directed by the Auditing Supervisor and Source Assurance Manager

Support QA/QC activities for the Fabrication and Construction SBU

Lead, coordinate, and supervise the audit team in their assigned duties within the scope of the survey or audit

Internally provide coaching and mentoring to Aecon personnel in Aecon’s various quality programs during the audit and in responding to corrective action reports

What You Bring To The Team

Graduate of secondary school, as a minimum

Education in an engineering discipline at the college or university level

Lead Auditor Certification from an accredited training registrar

Nuclear Lead Auditor Certification with work history would be an asset

Minimum of three years’ experience as an Internal Quality Auditor and one year as a Lead Quality Auditor

Minimum of five years experience in nuclear and/or non‑nuclear fabrication/construction industry in a quality assurance/quality control role

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Good leadership and organizational skills
