Smarter Alloys is commercializing next-generation smart materials that enable products to function like machines. Our proprietary technology is deployed across medical and dental devices, automotive systems, consumer electronics, sporting goods, and clean energy applications.
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer Machinist to join our growing manufacturing team. This role works closely with engineers and designers to prototype, iterate, and scale precision components in a fast-moving R&D and production environment. Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC milling equipment
Develop toolpaths using Fusion CAM, Mastercam, or equivalent software
Review drawings and 3D CAD models to verify tooling and machining strategy
Collaborate with engineering to improve part design for manufacturability
Machine complex components to tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
Operate multiple CNC machines to meet production and prototype timelines
Inspect parts using appropriate precision measuring instruments
Maintain equipment, tooling, and preventative maintenance schedules
Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain organized work areas
Support material sourcing through quote requests, purchase requests, and receiving
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience
Strong ability to read and interpret shop drawings and 3D CAD models
Experience setting up and operating CNC mills
Proficiency in Fusion CAM, Mastercam, or similar CAM software
Ability to machine to specified tolerances and surface finish requirements
Strong communication skills and team‑oriented mindset
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Haas and Fanuc machines
Experience with EDM machining an asset
Experience working in prototype or high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environments
Experience machining advanced alloys or specialty materials
