Title:

Sr. Mill Technical Manager – Milling Division, Head Office Cambridge, Ontario

Location:

Term:  Full Time Permanent

Wage:  $45–$65 per hour

Hours of Work:  40 hours per week; overtime applicable after 40 hours

Your Role
The Senior Mill Technical Manager will be responsible for providing strategic direction and technical expertise to all milling sites. The focus is on optimizing plant production processes to enhance product extraction, reduce by‑product and waste, improve capacity utilization, upgrade facilities and equipment, and increase overall plant efficiency. Responsibilities include process design/re‑design, engineering, equipment adjustments, industry best practices, operational technologies, and targeted improvement initiatives.

Additionally, the role involves managing the national roll corrugation program and ensuring optimal equipment use across mills.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

Analyze existing processes, identify gaps, and implement strategies to optimize product output, extraction, capacity utilization, and overall efficiency while ensuring quality, health, and safety compliance.

Investigate and resolve complex milling/production issues, monitor performance results, and ensure plant managers and personnel are trained in troubleshooting.

Develop and execute changes and improvements in milling processes, systems, and equipment in collaboration with plant local management teams.

Collaborate with Project Managers and proponents to develop and implement operational and capital projects.

Work with plant production and technical teams to implement improvements and new equipment or technologies.

Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures for all plants, ensuring compliance with operational programs and standards.

Plan, organize, direct, manage, and schedule activities in the national roll corrugation department, including staff management.

Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, monitor them, and take action on gaps or deviations.

Collaborate with the R&D Manager to develop optimized and cost‑effective National Wheat Grist without compromising quality and performance.

Provide immediate coverage and operational support to plant teams when needed.

Assist Project and Operations Managers in the development and management of capital projects.

Maintain a safe working environment and high food safety standards in accordance with BRCGS and Food Safety procedures.

Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.

Hire, supervise, train, and oversee staff development in accordance with company policies and standards.

Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Completion of formal milling training and education, with a degree or diploma in flour milling technology from Swiss Milling School, Milling Science and Management from KSU, or equivalent.

Post‑secondary education, preferably in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience.

A minimum of 15 years of industry experience in flour milling operations or technical roles.

A minimum of 10 years of managerial experience, ideally as Head Miller, Mill Manager, Operations Manager, or related roles.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to travel and work at all Mill Plant locations across Canada.
