Overview  At Cowan Group Ltd. ("CGL"), we are passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients. Reporting directly to the President.

What You Will Do

General legal matters:
Owned and leased Property;
Regulatory and legislated matters and compliance;
Trademarks;
Licensing process and compliance;
Contract negotiation, review and ongoing compliance;
Etc.

Corporate Policies:
Work with HR on policies procedures, Health and safety and employee relations issues;
Deployment of new regulatory and legislative matters;
Best practice on Data security, including SOC II and Privacy, and adherence to changing legal requirements;
Etc.

Risk Management:

Business Continuity Management;
Privacy Officer;
Compliance Officer;
Management of the Whistle blower Channel;
Annual Business Risk Assessment Process and ongoing reporting

Maintaining and Managing the Group P&C Insurance Coverage matters:
Policy Renewal;
Claims; E & O Reporting and oversight

Due diligence and M&A activities as required

What You Will Bring

You’re a certified professional. The successful candidate must have been called to the Bar in Ontario.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal work experience (law firm or in-house)

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with experience simplifying and resolving complex problems

Highly focused with attention to detail and ability to collaborate well with others.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a practical solution-oriented approach

Demonstrated superior skill in legal drafting, including agreements and contracts.

Superior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple priorities and requests.
