Southbridge Health Care LP owns and operates several long-term care and retirement homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. We are currently seeking a  Director of Finance  to lead the financial oversight of Southbridge’s long-term care development portfolio .  This position will oversee both the  Corporate and Development Accounting  teams and is accountable for the accuracy, timeliness and integrity of corporate financial reporting, compliance and development-related financial management.

This position requires a strong combination of technical account expertise and leadership capability.

This role is eligible for hybrid work schedule. This position requires reliable internet access and the ability to participate in video calls and team collaboration tools. Standard business hours with occasional need for additional hours during peak periods.

Responsibilities
Corporate Finance & Accounting

Oversight of day-to-day corporate accounting activities and financial close processes of corporate and consolidated functions.

Management of corporate banking relationships, cash management and treasury activities.

Preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements.

Delivery of quarterly management reporting & financial analysis.

Coordination and management of the annual external audit process.

Oversight of corporate tax compliance, including income tax filings, HST & other related reporting.

Responsible for all Statistics Canada financial & operational reporting.

Maintenance & oversight of Southbridge’s legal and corporate entity structure, including coordination with legal and external advisors.

Ensure that strong internal controls, policies & procedures are in place.

Development Finance & Accounting

Oversight of monthly development cost & financial reporting for active projects.

Work closely with external cost consultants and internal development teams to ensure accurate & timely cost reporting for internal and external users.

Management of development cash flows, including forecasting & liquidity planning.

Oversight & execution of construction loan draws and lender reporting requirements.

Monitor and ensure compliance with construction debt covenants and financing agreements.

Support financing transactions related to development projects, including lender due diligence & reporting.

Act as primary finance lead on development projects with the role to take on development underwriting & modelling.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.

7+ years of progressive experience in finance & accounting with at least 3 years experience in a managerial role.

Strong knowledge & understanding of financial statements, financial operations and internal controls.

In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated initiative & willingness to continuously improve.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Excel).

Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct is considered an asset.

Experience with the senior care continuum is considered an asset.

Strong leadership and people-management skills.

High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work effectively with external advisors, lenders, auditors & consultants.

Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic & operational levels.
