You’ll step into a key electrical role within a small, collaborative consulting firm where your technical judgment, initiative, and expertise truly matter. You will serve as the firm’s primary electrical resource on service upgrade projects, working closely with mechanical engineers and project stakeholders to support future‑ready buildings.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Act as Engineer of Record for electrical service upgrade projects
Lead projects through the full lifecycle, including:
Responding to RFPs
Evaluating existing electrical systems and future load requirements
Coordinating with local utility companies (e.g., Toronto Hydro, Electra, Anova)
Providing construction support and resolving site issues
Perform and review future load calculations, accounting for simultaneous loads, code requirements, and system limitations
Integrate new electrical equipment into existing building systems, addressing space, routing, and infrastructure constraints
Respond to contractor RFIs, unforeseen site conditions, and rerouting challenges during construction
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers on upgrades involving chillers, boilers, and other major equipment
Support projects involving solar PV integration into existing electrical distribution systems
Work on a diverse range of projects, including:
Ice rinks and recreational facilities
High‑rise residential and apartment buildings
Libraries, colleges, universities, and social housing developments
Projects are primarily located in Southwestern Ontario, with regular work across the GTA, Durham Region, and the Peterborough/Port Perry area
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
5–7 years of hands‑on experience with electrical service upgrades in commercial or institutional buildings
Proven experience acting as Engineer of Record
Strong understanding of electrical codes, utility requirements, and coordination processes
Ability to evaluate future system demands, not just size individual components
Confident, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects
Enjoys working in a small‑firm environment with autonomy and accountability
Willing to learn independently and grow alongside the firm
Team‑oriented and comfortable being the go‑to electrical resource
