Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter to support engineering and construction projects. This role involves preparing detailed fabrication drawings, 3D models, and quantity calculations for machine control applications while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, and 3D models for machine control applications.

Develop and maintain drafting plans to support project deliverables.

Provide drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection processes.

Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and project stakeholders.

Liaise with design partners, trade supervision, and project team members to ensure alignment.

Report on and participate in continuous improvement initiatives for key performance metrics.

Problem-solve as-built conditions and collaborate with the project team to develop effective solutions.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

Experience with welding symbols and general fabrication processes.

5+ years of experience in mechanical drafting and design.

Education in Mechanical Technology, Construction Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in nuclear drafting of components.

Solid Works knowledge is transferable.

Experience in structural engineering, structural design, and civil engineering.

Work Environment

The work location is based in Cambridge with a hybrid model requiring 3 days in the office. Core work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility to start earlier at 7:00 AM and finish by 3:30 PM. The team is currently using AutoCAD for immediate solutions, transitioning to Inventor for integration within the squad. The drafting work involves detailed drawings for a composite steel building and involves working with large welded plates.

This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
