The Senior Design Engineer will assist in maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety and Quality, in accordance with current legislation and company policies. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Collaborate with company and departmental management to assist in the formulation, implementation, and delivery of key business objectives. Produce design submissions and quotations for medium to large wastewater schemes, including projects for water companies, developers, and infrastructure clients.
Manage, develop, and mentor existing and new members of the Design, Estimating, and CAD teams. Identify new customers and develop strong, long-lasting relationships to maximise business opportunities and future growth. Liaise closely with colleagues on a daily basis to ensure tasks are completed accurately and within required timescales. Respond to customer requirements and deliver consistently high levels of service to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Ensure the simPRO software system is fully utilised to maintain accurate records and business transactions. Produce reports and forecasts on design and estimating performance on a daily, monthly, or ad-hoc basis as requested by senior management. Maintain high levels of accuracy in all technical designs, submissions, estimates, quotations, and proposals. Develop, secure, and protect the organisations reputation as a market-leading provider of pumping system solutions.
Provide regular progress updates and management reports to support business planning and operational decision-making. Maintain a strong understanding of relevant legislation, specifications, and industry guidelines relating to sewage and surface water pumping systems. Monitor market conditions, competitors, and industry drivers, contributing to strategies that increase business potential and mitigate risks. Deputise for the Technical Director when required. Take responsibility for the management of the Design, Estimating, and CAD teams during deputisation, including:
Authorising annual leave Monitoring and recording employee absences Assigning and prioritising workloads Providing training and technical support Assisting with technical or departmental issues Chairing meetings Ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of design services Assist the Technical Director with the day-to-day running of the Design, CAD, and Estimating departments. Liaise daily with the Tendering and Technical Manager to ensure the smooth operation of departmental activities.
Undertake any other duties required to support the effective operation and continued development of the business.
