Position SummaryThe Farebox Clerk is responsible for handling, maintaining, and reconciling fare collection systems and related equipment to ensure accurate revenue tracking and smooth transit operations.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, count, and reconcile farebox revenue from transit vehicles.
- Maintain accurate logs of farebox transactions and prepare daily/weekly reports.
- Assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs of farebox equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company cash-handling and security procedures.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams for farebox servicing schedules.
- Respond to operator inquiries regarding farebox issues.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in cash handling, accounting, or transit operations preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electronic farebox systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Ability to lift farebox components and work in a secure environment.
