Junior Grower

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report pest pressure in greenhouses to the grower.
• Monitor for disease in plants and quality standards for crop work.
• Monitor specialty jobs such as planting, pest & disease work and maintenance problems that could adversely impact production.
• Perform irrigation of crop: monitor and calibrate grow scales, over drain trays, EC and pH sensors.
• Ensure proper settings implemented per discussions with the grower.
• Maintain monitoring of drain, dripper measurements, pathway bottles, back wash of sand filters, cleaning of disc filters and pressure of irrigation system according to specification.
• Sampling fertilization on a consistent basis.
• Track plant growth.
• Ensure CO2 monitored for correct dosage.
• Record daily irrigation, drain, EC and pH on the grower's data board.
• Record plant measurements.
• Provide weekly operation report to the grower.
• Complete required modules:
  Introduction Horticulture, Water-Introduction, Irrigation and Fertilization within first 6 months; continue Priva modules every 6 months thereafter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• 40-hour minimum work week.
• Must write and communicate effectively with the entire team.

• Ability to follow up, document progression and analyze results.
• Attention to detail under guidance.
• Ability to convert measurement units.
• Basic knowledge of algebra (measurement conversion, precise measurement, multiplication, division).
• Basic knowledge of chemistry (differentiate substances used, accurate measurement).

• Work in greenhouse conditions: high humidity, varying temperatures, moisture present.
• Exert up to 15-50 pounds occasionally to lift and move product.
• Balance, reach, grasp while climbing step stool or ladder.
• Crouch, grasp, lift product above shoulders appropriately.
• Maintain standing position during job responsibilities.

• Work in greenhouses with high temperature and humidity.
• Required to work with chemicals (protective equipment provided).
• Work on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as required.
• Travel may be required between office and farm sites occasionally.

Assist the grower in monitoring crops, irrigation and climate strategies, help with labor where needed, and report all irregularities to the grower.
