Trillium Professional is now seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator in Camarillo, CA!
The Aircraft Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of C130 cowling and other critical aircraft sheet metal components. This role requires a high level of skill in reading and interpreting legacy 2D blueprints and schematics, forming and assembling precision sheet metal parts, and using a wide range of hand and power tools in accordance with aerospace standards and workmanship requirements.
The position supports production, repair, and modification activities while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Fabricate, assemble, fit, and install critical aircraft sheet metal parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read, interpret, and work from legacy 2D blueprints, mylars, sketches, and work instructions.
- Lay out, cut, form, bend, roll, and shape aluminum and other aircraft-grade sheet metal materials.
- Drill, deburr, countersink, and prepare parts for assembly using proper aerospace techniques.
- Perform precision riveting (solid, blind, and specialty fasteners) to meet structural and cosmetic requirements.
- Assemble complex sheet metal structures, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and clearances.
- Use measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and conformity to drawings.
- Identify and resolve fit-up issues; work with engineering and quality teams on discrepancies or nonconformances.
- Perform rework and repair operations in accordance with approved repair data and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Accurately complete production travelers, inspection records, and other required documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and workmanship.
- Strong ability to read and interpret legacy 2D blueprints, GD&T, and written instructions.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft sheet metal fabrication and assembly practices.
- Experience working with critical flight or structural components, including cowling and close-tolerance assemblies.
- Understanding aircraft materials, fasteners, and corrosion prevention methods.
- Ability to work with tight tolerances and high cosmetic and structural standards.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
- Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of common aircraft sheet metal tools and equipment, including but not limited to:
- Hand tools: rivet guns, bucking bars, hand squeezers, clecos, drill motors, countersinks, deburring tools, files, snips
- Measuring and layout tools: calipers, micrometers, steel rules, squares, protractors, height gauges
- Forming and fabrication tools: brakes, shears, rollers, presses, stretchers/shrinkers, mallets
- Drilling and fastening equipment: pneumatic drills, reamers, dimpling tools, rivet sets
- Power tools and support equipment as required for aircraft sheet metal fabrication
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training in aircraft sheet metal or structures preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in aircraft sheet metal fabrication and assembly.
- Experience with complex aircraft structural assemblies is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry is highly desired.
