AboutThe Role
The Senior Manager, Application Engineering – CAM & Production Machining provides national leadership for a team of Application Engineers supporting CAM software and production machining solutions across the United States. This role blends deep technical expertise with people leadership and commercial partnership, ensuring consistent technical excellence, scalable best practices, and strong alignment between customers, sales, product, and engineering teams.
Job ResponsibilitiesThis position reports to the Vice President – Americas Region and plays a critical role in driving customer value, revenue growth, and long‑term adoption of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence CAM solutions.
What You Will Do Team Leadership & Development- Lead, mentor, and develop a national team of Application Engineers supporting CAM software and production machining
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain high‑performing technical talent
- Establish consistent standards for demonstrations, evaluations, implementations, and post‑sales technical support
- Conduct performance reviews, goal setting, and ongoing professional development planning
- Partner closely with Sales leadership to support enterprise and strategic customer engagements
- Oversee CAM software demonstrations, proof‑of‑concept projects, and technical evaluations
- Support complex sales opportunities requiring advanced machining, automation, or digital manufacturing expertise
- Ensure technical messaging aligns with product positioning and customer value propositions
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in CAM workflows, CNC programming, post‑processing, and machining strategies
- Define and maintain national best practices for CAM implementation, onboarding, and customer success
- Support technical escalations and troubleshooting for high‑impact customer issues
- Stay current on machining technologies, tooling strategies, automation trends, and Industry 4.0 initiatives
- Act as a technical liaison for key customers, channel partners, and resellers
- Participate in customer visits, trade shows, user conferences, and industry events
- Gather structured customer feedback to inform product roadmap and continuous improvement
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, R&D, Marketing, and Support teams
- Provide clear, actionable feedback from the field on product performance and feature needs
- Support beta programs, technical documentation, and development of training materials
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years experience hands‑on experience with CAM software and CNC machining environments
- 3+ years proven experience leading, coaching, and developing technical or engineering teams
- Track record of leading Service Teams that drive revenue, balancing customer success, operational efficiency, and commercial targets
- Strong knowledge of multi‑axis milling, turning, mill‑turn operations, and post processors
- Ability to support complex manufacturing environments and enterprise customers
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel nationally up to 30–50%
- Experience supporting CAM software sales or technical sales organizations
- Background in aerospace, automotive, medical, or other high‑precision manufacturing industries
