Camrosa Water District in Camarillo, CA, has 29 employees and is classified as a D4 and T3 system. The potable, non‑potable, and recycled distribution system includes over 11,000 customer connections, 130 miles of pipeline, 13 reservoirs, 10 wells, 6 pumping stations, 13 turnouts, and the Round Mountain Water Treatment Plant, a 1‑MGD drinking water RO plant. Our sanitary service includes 40 miles of collection lines, 6 lift stations, 4 siphon structures, 1,350 manholes, and the Camrosa Water Reclamation Facility, a 2.25‑MGD plant.

GENERAL

Camrosa is seeking a System Field Supervisor – Distribution to join our agile, versatile, dedicated team of water and wastewater operators serving the eastern Camarillo and Santa Rosa Valley communities. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the operation and maintenance of Camrosa’s potable and non‑potable water distribution system, with a focus on distribution and customer metering. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong technical background, attention to detail, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing complex water distribution systems.

System Field Supervisors oversee a wide variety of projects across all aspects of the District’s physical infrastructure, including potable, non potable, wastewater, and recycled water. No two days are the same at Camrosa, and we encourage dual certification, require independence, and reward initiative.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES

The System Field Supervisor – Distribution is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system including customer metering and provides the System Operators with general supervision as they perform a variety of duties in the production and delivery of safe, high‑quality and reliable water to customers. This includes installation, monitoring, maintenance and repairs to the water production, treatment and distribution systems and their related equipment and facilities, overseeing the meter testing and replacement program, refining the water loss control program, developing and managing the customer meter and AMR replacement program, and wastewater treatment and reclamation operations.

  • Perform at a high level of technical expertise, establish procedures, monitor preventative and corrective maintenance, inspect work progress, review staff technique, conduct technology training, and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Manage AMI technology (Aclara) from the meters to the billing software in order to identify meters that are not reporting water usage and identify meters to be replaced.
  • Manage water meter and AMR inventory, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining accurate and detailed records of stock.
  • Oversee construction, installation, service, maintenance, and repair of water transmission distribution systems, leaks, and related facilities and equipment, including main lines, service lines, meters, meter boxes, hydrants, customer valves, cla valves, and other associated equipment.
  • Operate and make necessary adjustments to wells, pump stations, and flow and pressure controls to maintain storage facility levels, water quality, and distribution system capacity in order to meet consumer demands, including fire flow and minimum pressure requirements.
  • Respond promptly to after‑hours emergencies and assist colleagues in emergency situations.
  • Monitor supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, including analyzing trends, reading and responding to alarms, texts, emails, and other system notifications.
  • Investigate water quality problems in the distribution system.
  • Communicate relevant information to coworkers, ensuring that tasks are followed through to completion.
  • Enter, store, record, and retrieve data and other information using word processing and spreadsheet software applications. Prepare reports and maintain records of system operation and maintenance.
