Overview

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of externally sourced components and materials used in Parker Hannifin’s aerospace products. This role leads supplier quality strategy across the product lifecycle—from supplier selection and development through new product introduction (NPI), industrialization, and sustaining production—to meet stringent aerospace regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Quality Strategy and Governance
    • Develop and execute supplier quality plans aligned to program requirements, risk, and business objectives.
    • Define incoming quality requirements, inspection strategies, and control plans for high-risk commodities and special processes.
    • Establish measurable supplier performance targets (PPM, on-time delivery, SCAR cycle time etc) and lead improvement plans.
  • Supplier Selection and Development
    • Perform supplier risk assessments covering capability, capacity, quality systems, and compliance (ITAR/Export Controls).
    • Lead Parker ZDP (Zero Defect Programs) supplier development initiatives, coaching on APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and SPC.
    • Conduct due diligence and qualification audits (AS9100/ISO
      9001, NADCAP special processes).
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) and Industrialization
    • Drive APQP per AS9145 & AS13100, ensuring robust process validation (PPAP, FAIR/FAI per AS9102).
    • Review and approve manufacturing process documentation, control plans, PFMEAs, MSA (GR&R), and capability studies.
    • Facilitate design for manufacturability and quality (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, and special characteristics (KPVs) management.
  • Production Support and Escalation Management
    • Lead RCCA using 8D/A3/DMAIC; implement containment, corrective and preventive actions.
    • Initiate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), verify effectiveness, and prevent recurrence.
    • Support nonconforming material control, disposition, and supplier chargebacks.
  • Compliance and Audit
    • Plan and conduct process and system audits; track findings for timely closure.
    • Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, NADCAP, and regulatory requirements (FAA/EASA as applicable).
    • Manage quality clause (QCODES) flow-down and contract review, ensuring traceability and configuration control.
  • Data, Analytics, and Reporting
    • Monitor supplier performance dashboards; analyze trends and variation to drive improvements.
    • Report program KPIs and risk status to leadership; create data-driven business cases for sourcing and recovery actions.
    • Use statistical tools to validate improvements and maintain process capability indices.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership and Communication
    • Serve as the quality liaison to suppliers and internal stakeholders; lead technical reviews and quality gates during Work Transfer Process.
    • Support make/buy decisions with risk and cost-of-quality insights.
    • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the supply chain.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials, or related).
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience required.
  • Proven expertise with AS9100/ISO
9001; strong working knowledge of AS9145 (APQP/PPAP), AS9102 (FAI), PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and MSA.
  • Experience supporting or interacting with suppliers and special processes (e.g., heat treatment, plating, welding, composites); familiarity with NADCAP requirements.
  • Demonstrated success leading root cause analysis (8D/A3/DMAIC) and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, material specifications, and inspection standards.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis and quality tools (Cp/Cpk, control charts, sampling plans).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MS) or relevant certifications (ASQ CQE/CQA, AS9100 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
