Program& Position
Global Languages and Cultures – Lecturer, AY in French.
Program OverviewThe Global Languages and Cultures program offers introductory courses in Arabic, ASL, Chinese, French, Mixteco, and Spanish, as well as Spanish major/minor and certificate programs.
Position OverviewThe Global Languages and Cultures Department seeks an instructor to teach 1–2 sections of beginning French in any modality (face-to-face, online synchronous, online asynchronous) as needed.
ResponsibilitiesTeach assigned classes and carry out related duties including holding office hours, grading, and lesson planning.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in the language of specialization (Arabic, ASL, Chinese, French, Mixtec, or Spanish) or a related field.
- Experience teaching the language of specialization.
- Near-native or native fluency in both the language of specialization and English.
- Record of teaching effectiveness reflecting communicative language teaching practices.
- Ability to engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.
- Evidence of ability to teach in any modality (face-to-face, online synchronous, online asynchronous) as departmental needs arise.

California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules:
- Range 2: $5,507–$6,677
- Range 3: $6,221–$13,224
- Range 4: $6,825–$14,523
- Range 5: $8,593–$15,211
Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. Salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester.
