This applicant pool will be used to fill part‑time Speech Language Pathology Assistant Instructor vacancies at Ventura College for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non‑Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with California Education Code §87482.5, Instructors (Non‑Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full‑time assignment.
Where You’ll WorkEstablished in 1925, Ventura College was one of the first community colleges in California and currently has an enrollment of 14,500 students. Located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, the 112‑acre campus sits in the rolling hills of Ventura – close to the ocean with a clear view of the Channel Islands from several spots.

RepresentativeDuties
- Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking skills in one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services.
- Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback to inquiries in class, online, or during office hours.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and learning outcomes, aligning with department, college, and district goals.
- Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, curriculum, and outcomes; prepare and submit related reports promptly.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials as per bookstore procedures.
- Revise and update course content and materials in accordance with new theory and industry developments.
- Update syllabi; collaborate with faculty to assess and revise measurable performance indicators.
- May participate in curriculum and program development, and provide input into student learning outcomes.
- May attend and participate in committees, meetings, articulation activities, and supervise clinical students on site per state board requirements.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors:
- Master’s in speech pathology, speech‑language pathology, speech‑language and hearing sciences, communicative disorders, communication sciences and disorders, or education with a concentration in speech pathology; or the equivalent (see Equivalency process).
- OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
- All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
- California State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Experience facilitating large groups of adult learners or teaching at the college level.
- Experience with learning management systems (Google Classroom, Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc.).
- Experience with AAC.
- Eligibility to supervise clinical students on site based on state board requirements.
