WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the general direction of the President, the Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the college and is responsible for the overall design, organization, delivery, supervision, evaluation, and fiscal management of academic support services and programs of the college.
Location:
Ventura College. There is one temporary acting full-time assignment that will remain until the position is permanently filled and may be extended beyond June 30, 2026. Interviews will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, and/or Monday, February 9, 2026, depending on applicant volume.
Ventura College, established in 1925, serves about 14,500 students. The campus is located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara on a 112-acre site with views of the Channel Islands. More information is on the Ventura College website.

RepresentativeDuties
- Provide leadership to strengthen and implement career, technical, occupational and transfer programs leading to certificates and associate degrees.
- Supervise publication of the college’s schedules of classes, catalog, and instructional information on the college website.
- Plan and direct instructional programming including room utilization, instructor load, and student enrollment and retention.
- Assist in development and implementation of the college’s operational plan and budget based on program need and enrollment targets.
- Develop, direct, coordinate, supervise and evaluate instructional programs, including planning, analysis, and program reviews; ensure compliance with Education Code, regulations, accreditation standards, policies, and bargaining agreements.
- Assist in recruitment, selection, and development of staff; monitor staffing and allocate resources in line with Equal Employment Opportunity principles.
- Direct and implement sound fiscal planning for the instructional budget and oversee budget preparation and implementation.
- Develop externally funded initiatives and plan allocations for facilities, equipment, and technology to support instructional programs.
- Coordinate with faculty organizations on instructional matters; promote student inclusion in shared decision making.
- Ensure courses, curricula, and programs comply with laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and agreements; maintain articulation with other higher education institutions.
- Develop and evaluate articulation with secondary schools and matriculation activities, including recruitment, admission, assessment, advisement, and retention of students.
- Lead campus committees and maintain liaisons with business and community representatives involved in curriculum planning and program development.
- Prepare timely, accurate instructional and other reports required by federal, state, district and college departments.
- Promote the use of computer technology and data management for college programs and reporting.
- Stay informed about emerging services, methodologies, and technologies relevant to college programs.
- Serve on management councils and other college and district committees; act as Acting President in the President’s absence as directed.

- Possession of a master's degree; and
- One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s assignment.
