Overview
Instructor in Economics (Part-Time Pool) – Ventura County Community College District. This is a part-time, non-contract/temporary position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for future consideration for part-time instructors in this discipline at Oxnard College, Moorpark College, and Ventura College. Pools are kept on file for Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 and may be considered if a vacancy becomes available within the academic year.

Location:
Districtwide (Ventura County CA).
Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to support attainment of academic or vocational objectives. Instructors may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment in accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5.
Representative Duties- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills through assignments and activities in various instructional settings.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, transfer resources, lifelong learning, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
- Observe and evaluate student performance relative to course objectives and student learning outcomes; provide timely feedback to students in class, online, or during office hours.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; implement the stated performance objectives on the official course outline of record.
- Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials (textbooks, manuals, software, etc.) in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials to ensure timely delivery.
- Revise and update course content and materials in line with new developments in the discipline; update syllabi and collaborate on measuring student performance indicators.
- May participate in curriculum and program development, articulation and matriculation activities, and committee or department meetings; may provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned.
E = Essential duties.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s in Economics or Bachelor’s in Economics with a Master’s in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Education, Finance, or Political Science, or the equivalent; or possession of a valid California Community Colleges Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university. If education was completed outside the United States, see the Foreign Transcripts information for evaluation requirements.
The district recognizes equivalency through the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency process when applicable.
Required documents for consideration include: a complete online application, cover letter addressing diversity and contribution to the district community, resume, and official or unofficial transcripts. Letters of recommendation are optional. Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency may be required if qualifications are equivalent to the minimum. Foreign transcripts may require evaluation by an approved agency. All applicants must follow the stated process and provide complete materials by the deadline.
StartingSalary & Benefits
Starting salaries for part-time faculty are based on educational achievement and relevant experience and are paid per semester per 10% load, within the posted range. Salaries are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement (AFT Local 1828). Documentation of prior teaching experience may be required for salary placement.
