Description

We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis for future consideration for part‑time instructors in this discipline at Moorpark College. Applications will be kept on file for the current academic year (Summer 2025, Fall 2025, Spring 2026) and may be considered if a vacancy opens.

What You’ll Do

Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non‑Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate their academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with Education Code section 87482.5, Instructors may be employed up to 67% of a full‑time assignment.

Moorpark College is one of three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District. Founded in 1967, it serves approximately 15,000 students and offers transfer programs, basic skills, career education, nursing, radiation technology, biotechnology, and more. It is recognized as an Aspen Prize Finalist, a Champion of Higher Education, a Hispanic Serving Institution, and has received numerous grants.

Who We Are

The Ventura County Community College District serves residents throughout Ventura County with three colleges offering transfer, career technical, basic skills, and continuing education programs. The district promotes a diverse and inclusive environment.

Representative Duties
  • Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses and assess student skill sets.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and resources.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance; provide timely feedback.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to course outlines and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and outcomes.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with faculty.
  • Revise and update course content and materials.
  • Update syllabi and collaborate on performance indicators.
  • May participate in curriculum and program development.
  • May attend committees, meetings, articulation, matriculation activities, and provide direction to others.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Options include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience.
  • Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience.
  • Valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.

Professional experience is required when holding a master’s degree and must be directly related to the teaching assignment. All coursework must be from an accredited institution.

Equivalency

Candidates whose transcripts do not exactly match the listed degree title may submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency. The equivalency process is independent and reviewed by a committee.

Pay Philosophy

Part‑time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,007 and $3,108 per semester per 10% load.
