Position

Purpose:

The Athletic Performance Coach is responsible for supporting the health, safety, and physical development of Sacred Heart Prep student-athletes through the design and delivery of developmentally appropriate strength, conditioning, speed, mobility, and injury-prevention programs. Within a collaborative athletic performance model, this position carries a primary emphasis on high-speed, multidirectional field sports, while contributing to the broader athletic performance needs of the school.

Working collaboratively within a tri-coach Athletic Performance model under the leadership of the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Performance, the position supports the Mission of the School and its Goals and Criteria.

Specific Expectations for 100% FTE Coaches, Administrators and Staff in the Prep Athletic Department assigned to 10, 11 and 12 month schedules:
In addition to duties and essential job functions listed in job descriptions, the following responsibilities are expected of all employees in the Prep Athletics Department assigned to 10, 11 and 12-month schedules:

  • Attend the following events:
    Graduation, Convocation, Prep Coaches Meetings (Coaches and AD’s), Senior Athlete Exit Interviews (Head Coaches), End-of-Season Individual Athlete Meetings (Head Coaches), League Sport Meetings (Head Coaches), Mentoring Time (Head Coaches) – up to 2 hours/week in-season and out-of-season (not to conflict with faculty office hours and can be by phone if cleared with AD in advance), Director’s Day/Campus Safety, Open House, Freshmen Welcome Night, Seasonal Sports Parents Meetings, Coaches Seasonal Workshops, All-School Masses and Espacios.
  • Professional development as required by your supervisor, work beyond your regular hours when required by your supervisor, and attendance at, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events as directed by your supervisor.
  • All non-exempt employees are required to accurately track their time and their paid time off in the payroll system.
  • The agreement period for employees working 10, 11 and 12-month schedules remains as stated even in the case that the duty schedule is shifted to accommodate the sports season. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. In the case you are required to work outside of your normal work schedule; non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay, as eligible.
Essential

Functions
  • Collaborates with fellow Athletic Performance Coaches and the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Performance to design and implement comprehensive athletic performance programming across multiple sports.
  • Designs and delivers performance programs for male and female student-athletes that address the specific physiological and movement demands of field-based team sports, providing particular emphasis on acceleration, speed development, change of direction, energy system development, and injury-risk reduction for sports such as football, soccer, and lacrosse, while contributing to the broader athletic performance needs of the school.
  • Leads the coordination of seasonal performance planning for designated field sport programs, including in-season, preseason, and off-season training phases.
  • Applies training principles relevant to multidirectional field sports, with particular value placed on experience supporting football and soccer athletes, including acceleration, change of direction, contact readiness, and repeat sprint ability.
  • Assists with athletic performance testing, data collection, and athlete monitoring to inform program design and progression.
  • Maintains consistent, professional communication and collaborates regularly with Athletic Performance staff, Sports Medicine staff, athletic administrators, sport coaches, and student-athletes.
