Experienced Tower Tech III responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment on cellular towers and other elevated structures. This position requires advanced technical skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to work safely at heights.
Essential Functions
- Lead and mentor junior technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment
- Perform complex installations of antennas, transmission lines, and other wireless equipment
- Conduct site audits and create detailed documentation of existing equipment and configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with cellular equipment and supporting infrastructure
- Operate rigging equipment and assist in tower reinforcement projects
- Maintain detailed logs of all work performed and complete required documentation
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and OSHA regulations
- Minimum 2 years of tower climbing and maintenance experience
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong understanding of wireless telecommunications systems and equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
- Comfortable working at heights
- Proficient in using hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with multiple carrier equipment types (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile)
- Knowledge of fiber optic systems and testing procedures
- Current certifications in:
- Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue
- RF Awareness
- First Aid/CPR
- OSHA 10-Hour Safety
- Ability to climb towers and work at extreme heights
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and manipulating heavy equipment
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions
- Physical stamina for extended periods of climbing and working overhead
- Good balance and hand-eye coordination
- Regular exposure to heights, outdoor weather conditions, and physical hazards
- Travel required to various site locations (up to 75% travel may be required)
- On-call rotation for emergency repairs
- Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
