Aircraft Mechanic II (LUH-72) A&P CBA - Barstow/Daggett CA
Amentum is hiring for an Aircraft Mechanic II (LUH-72) A&P CBA in Barstow/Daggett, CA. Applicants can join the process to apply for this opportunity.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition.
- Use technical publications to guide maintenance tasks.
- Prioritize workload to keep projects on schedule.
- Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, and flight controls.
- Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
- Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
- Perform scheduled inspections and assist with special inspections.
- Conduct limited maintenance operational checks, diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems with special tools and test equipment.
- Operate tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment under operator maintenance.
- Apply thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, repair procedures and part replacement.
- Use electrical theory and aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Use technical publications and the Government STAMIS for logbook entries.
- Receive technical assistance from higher‑level technicians as required.
- May serve as a Foreign Object Elimination/Foreign Object Debris (FOE/FOD) Program Administrator.
- Perform non‑crew member duties when qualified.
- Use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) when required.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
- Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Type using a standard keyboard for e‑mail and software applications.
- Follow technical guidance from supervisors and may lead teams on complex tasks.
- Walk, stand, and work on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
- Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above or below shoulders.
- Handle dirty parts and lubricants.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
- Lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
- Work in a drafty, noisy, dirty shop environment.
- Have three years of aviation maintenance experience, three years on rotary‑wing aircraft, and two years on the assigned Mission Data System (MDS), all within the most recent five years.
- Meet FAA requirements and hold a valid FAA A&P certificate.
- Demonstrate experience in moderate‑difficulty maintenance covering mechanics, engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, and power train tasks.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair procedures, and part replacement.
- Possess basic electrical theory knowledge.
- Be familiar with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Make logbook entries, use military technical publications, and the Army ULLSAE system.
- Provide personal tools/toolbox; tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be available for variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Be willing to travel as needed.
- Be ready to work any shift assigned by the union.
- Obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
- Maintain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship is required.
- Work in environments ranging from minimal discomfort to severe weather changes.
- Exposed to high noise hazards, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.
- Lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds routinely.
- Perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
- Climb or balance in small spaces, ladder work, and work at heights of 40 feet or more.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Hire Range: $50.07 – $53.63 (Hourly rate set by CBA).
