F-18 Airframes Mechanic —
Description:
Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Repairs replace and rebuild aircraft structures of moderate difficulties, such as wings, fuselage, surface controls, and functional components including rigging, plumbing, and hydraulic units utilizing hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. Reads and interprets manufacturers publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Inspects airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage. Troubleshoot, remove, replace, and repair aircraft structural and hydraulic system components. Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. As required by site operations and site management, be certified as a CDI. Shall be able to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects.
- Candidates must have been released from military service with an Honorable Discharge to meet minimum qualifications.
- Shall have completed their appropriate T/M required/Series Navy Skill Specialty Class "C" school.
- High school graduate or equivalent. Specialized training courses are desirable.
- Shall have minimum of five years USN/USMC/USCG O-Level CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) aircraft maintenance support experience.
- Shall have not less than three years T/M aircraft maintenance experience for the T/M/S aircraft hired to maintain.
- Shall have been previously designated as a CDI, QAR, or CDQAR.
- Thorough knowledge of the specific T/M required/Series aircraft hired to maintain for mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, T/M/S specific IMRL equipment, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Working knowledge of technical publications, CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.
- Shall have a valid driver's license.
