Job DescriptionA Journeyman Electrician is skilled in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across a variety of buildings and high- profile venues. The role is full-time, on-site at COTA, and will involve weekend work with a range of working hours depending on season.
The electrical work will center around events and complex facility operations.
Requirements & Essential Functions- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, panels, outlets, conduit, and lighting
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical upgrades across multiple buildings and venues
- Coordinate temporary power setups for large-scale events and race weekends
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and site plans
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and OSHA regulations
- Support emergency power systems and event response as needed
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Collaborate with other trades and contractors on projects and renovations
- Strong interpersonal skills; can communicate effectively at all levels
- Drive results, make timely decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances
- Organize and manage projects, people, and resources efficiently
- Maintain integrity and honest communication within the organization
- Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License (required)
- Minimum 4–6 years of commercial/industrial electrical experience
- Strong understanding of power distribution, low‑voltage systems, and high‑capacity load demands
- Ability to work independently or as part of a small team
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including on elevated platforms or lifts
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays during events
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience in sports venues, arenas, or event‑based environments
- Familiarity with backup generators, lighting control systems, and kitchen equipment power needs
- Ability to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision
- Work in extreme outdoor environments throughout the year
- Noise level usually moderate but can be loud during events
