Powered Systems Mechanic Security Clearance

Position: POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Location: Beale Air Force Base

Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) journeyman mechanic that troubleshoots, tests, repairs, modifies, overhauls, services, and dispatches powered ground support equipment and to train reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Duties: 1:
Performs preventive maintenance on ground power support systems. Performs periodic routine and special inspections of all scheduled equipment. 2:
Performs major maintenance on ground support equipment such as power sources, major components, support components, and associated components. 3:
Maintains records and documents actions. Maintains and controls tools. Ensures tools are properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and are secured when area is unattended. Dispatches support equipment. Using appropriate towing vehicles, tows and positions equipment around aircraft and hangars by schedules or as directed. 4:
Utilizes safety practices and procedures and complies with following established security and safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Cleans work area and equipment. Maintains an organized work area and practices good housekeeping. 5:
Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program. As required, verifies and certifies work processes and procedures of certified coworkers and trainees and adequacy of work accomplished. Requirements Conditions of employment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 - Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Powered Support Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered support systems. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and policy statements. Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials accounting and security. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures
2. Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel and gasoline engines. Knowledge of the operation of emergency generator power systems. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation. Knowledge of equipment placement around aircraft, radio discipline and flight-line driving procedures
3. Ability to repair jacks, ladders, platforms, trailers, stands and other non-powered equipment. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. Ability to apply shop procedures, policies, written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others.
