Department Summary

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a unique Southern California meeting and retreat venue. Located high in the pine‑studded San Bernardino Mountains on the tranquil shores of Lake Arrowhead, our 50‑acre lodge provides meeting space and accommodations for groups from September through mid‑June. During the summer, Bruins Woods Family Camp program runs for ten consecutive weeks, with up to 80 families attending each week.

Position

Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Security Ambassador is responsible for the safety and security of the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge (LAL), team members, and physical assets. The incumbent acts as a liaison with UCLA Administration, San Bernardino County Sheriff, and County and/or Cal Fire Department and other emergency departments. The Security Ambassador performs routine tasks such as perimeter checks and completes daily shift reports, and also completes incident reports as necessary.

The Security Ambassador serves to meet the needs and requests of guests as needed. Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • 1+ Years Experience in security, loss prevention, or related field (Required)
  • Working knowledge of security and safety procedures (Required)
  • Ability to comply with safety standards and procedures for both personal and public safety (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to address emergency situations (Required)
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner (Required)
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate in written and verbal English to receive work assignments and share information with supervisors and colleagues (Required)
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team (Required)
  • Ability to work efficiently under conditions of a fluctuating workload with frequent interruptions and distractions (Required)
  • Ability to remain calm in the face of adversity, such as guest dissatisfaction (Required)
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct business English, such as conference proposals, memos, and other routine correspondence (Required)
  • Proficiency in general office, productivity, and computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) (Required)
  • Skill in reading and comprehending technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and troubleshooting guides used in the installation and repair of technical surveillance equipment (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of surveillance and access control systems (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • AED Certification (Preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
  • Background Check:
    Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Age Requirement:
    Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • Driving Record:
    The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be available to work varying schedules, including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on departmental needs. (Required)
