W International is a world-class metal fabricator located in Goose Creek, SC, specializing in complex critical weldments for the defense, aerospace, and commercial markets. Our facility spans 45 acres with over 450,000 square feet of manufacturing space on the Cooper River. We work on leading projects in the industry and ship via barge, rail, or articulated vehicle. The successful candidate will oversee the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.

Responsibilities of the Position Include:

  • Perform and report findings for NDT inspections, coordinating and communicating effectively with all parties/departments.
  • Verify the implementation of contract documents.
  • Produce inspection reports and maintain detailed records of work performed.
  • Mentor and train staff as assigned.
  • Recognize complex problems and assist in resolution.
  • Apply standard inspection testing techniques and procedures for material verification.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, customer/vendor specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment, emphasizing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong ethical values.
  • Perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results effectively.
  • Use measurement tools such as tape measures, micrometers, scales, and calipers.
  • Possess understanding and experience with AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, D17.1, and NAVSEA standards (-1688,
    -271,
    -248); experience preferred but not required.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Qualifications and

Education Requirements:

NDT Level II Certification – Must meet one or more of the following:

  • Documented training and classroom hours for each method per SNT-TC-1A or the ability to meet the requirements within 90 days.
  • Experience with GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding is highly preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Dependable work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficient in using a variety of inspection tools.

Preferred

Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Tech Pub 1688 and AWS welding codes.
  • Experience working with defense contractors.
  • Experience with Shop Tech E2 ERP system or similar workflow.
  • Previous experience in a fabrication facility.
  • Current or previous CWI certification.
  • Proof of training hours and on-the-job training preferred.

We will certify to W International’s NDT Written Practice criteria.
