Job Summary
The Streets & Parks Laborer is responsible for performing maintenance and construction work within the Town of Alpine. The work is performed in an outdoor environment primarily and may include working in adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of heavy equipment and power tools.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have supervisory authority.
Duties/Responsibilities(This list does not include all duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position.)
- Streets & Roads
- Perform maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and road signage.
- Assist with snow removal operations and sanding roads during winter months.
- During snowplowing seasons, may be required to work additional hours.
- Operate equipment such as trucks, snowplows, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness of streets, storm drains, and related infrastructure.
- Parks & Recreational Facilities
- Conduct routine inspections and upkeep of park grounds and recreational facilities.
- Assist with landscaping duties such as mowing, weed eating, watering, and planting.
- Perform maintenance and repairs of playground equipment, benches, and public amenities.
- Ensure parks and recreational areas are safe, clean, and welcoming for public use.
- Buildings & General Maintenance
- Provide routine maintenance and repairs for town-owned facilities and structures.
- Perform basic building upkeep tasks including painting, minor plumbing, and carpentry.
- Conduct routine inspections, reporting any safety hazards or necessary repairs promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work spaces, storage areas, and common facilities.
- Town-Owned Properties
- Assist with general maintenance and oversight of all town-owned properties.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
- Support special projects and town events as directed by the supervisor or town administration.
- Ensure safety standards and compliance with town regulations at all town-owned properties.
- Additional Responsibilities
- May assist with Utility Department tasks as needed.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain tools and equipment related to the position.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor when interacting with residents.
- Valid driver's license required
- Always adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures.
- Training opportunities and certifications in equipment operation and safety practices may be provided or encouraged.
