Location: Del Mar

Join the Solana Beach Eco Rotary Club with the installation of a pollinator SMRT garden at San Dieguito County Park! This garden will educate the public on climate change, pollution, habitat loss, and the importance of native plants and pollinators. Volunteers will be able to return to the park to see progress on a beautiful wildlife garden that they helped with.

This is a three‑part project taking place in the first three Sundays of November.

Timeline
  • November 2, 2025 (9:00‑12:00 AM) – Dig trenches and create retention basins for rainwater collection within the garden.
  • November 9, 2025 (8:00‑12:00 AM) – Fill trenches with gravel and spread gravel into these trenches.
  • November 16, 2025 (8:00‑12:00 AM) – Plant four 15‑gallon trees and eight to ten 5‑gallon plants.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
  • Attire: Closed‑toe shoes are required. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade, so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.
  • What to bring: Water bottle and gardening gloves.
  • Physical requirements: Volunteers should be able to use a shovel to dig and move soft soil. Unfortunately, this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.
  • Weather: The project will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain.
  • Photos: Photos will be taken. Please let the Solana Beach Eco Rotary Club know if you prefer not to appear in the photos.

Sunday, November 16, 2025 (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM):
Planting Trees & Plants.
