JOB SUMMARY

This position will assist in the examination and treatment of patients in the clinic. This position will also supervise the work of R.N.s, L.V.N.s, and other clinical staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Meet with patients in a clinic setting to assist in performing routine tests for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.

* Identify health status by taking health histories, observing signs and systems, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for the doctor to examine.

* Report to the physician any changes in the patient's physical and emotional condition.

* Assist in epidemiological investigations, including names of communicable disease contacts and making referrals for tests and medical care.

* Draw blood, give injections, administer and read skin tests, administer immunizations and vaccinations, and administer prescribed medications and treatments.

* Provide education on preventative care and family planning.

* Participate in the supervision and training of aides and volunteers.

* Assist with medical supply inventory and orders.

* Keep current and accurate records.

* Interact professionally with the patient and the patient's family or representatives.

* Consider patient cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors.

* Respond to medical emergencies as needed.

* Supervise the daily work of nurses and clinic staff.

* Perform other duties as assigned.
