Location: Moss Beach
Coastside Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Mid Shift (11:00 am – 11:00 pm). AHMC Health Care is seeking a skilled RN to deliver high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced ED environment. This role requires strong clinical judgement, patient‑centered care, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities- Assess, collect, and document health assessment data with a focus on physical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Interview patients, families, and significant others to complete triage information.
- Identify actual and potential needs, determine priority, and recognize barriers to learning.
- Complete and document assessments post‑triage, emphasizing abnormal systems and potential problems.
- Plan nursing care based on priority of physical and psychosocial‑emotional needs; develop realistic short‑term goals involving patients and families.
- Demonstrate understanding of age‑related needs and negotiate with families and the health‑care team for education and discharge planning.
- Implement the plan of care, including prescribed procedures and treatments.
- Organize and prioritize care based on individual needs and department activity.
- Provide continuous assessment for changes in patient condition, adjusting plans accordingly.
- Initiate interventions using evidence‑based practice, including advanced skills such as IV catheter placement, medication administration, and wound care.
- As Primary Nurse, proactively coordinate activities of health‑care team members to complete diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care and adjust plans based on patient response.
- Accurately, concisely document patient status and response to care.
- Assess physical and psychosocial‑emotional needs, barriers to learning, discharge needs, age‑related needs, and potential assault or abuse concerns.
- Analyze vital signs, past medical history, exam findings, labs, and other data to adjust care.
- Implement interventions for all Emergency Services patients, prioritizing needs with a patient‑centered approach.
- Provide health education and teaching to patients, families, and significant others, ensuring understanding of treatment and discharge instructions.
- Perform emergency procedures (e.g., CPR, O₂, etc.) and communicate critical information to the team.
- Maintain current treatment knowledge through continuous education and review of professional literature.
- Apply new knowledge from education and research to improve clinical practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in age‑related patient care and abide by the California Nursing Practice Act.
- Act as RN supervisor over appropriate clinical staff, meeting BLS, ACLS, and PALS requirements.
- Follow state/federal regulations, Joint Commission guidelines, and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Advocate for public health and safety via patient and family education.
- Consistently complete required documentation accurately.
- Demonstrate caring, compassion, and recognize patients' and families' inherent worth and dignity.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum six months registered nurse experience.
- Six months current ER & triage experience or completion of Seton ER Nurse Training Program.
- Current California licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
- Current Management of Assaultive Behavior certification (AB508).
- Diffusing Assaultive Behavior Training.
- Knowledge of the California Nursing Practice Act.
- Ability to follow nursing policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations of Nursing Service, Seton Coastside, and Title 22.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
