Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has served northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. The 122-bed acute care facility provides emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services.
Job Summary:
Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care. Meet the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promote cooperation among the health care team. The RN shall meet personal accountabilities defined in the Tenet Standards of Conduct (Service, People, Quality, Growth, Cost). Assist under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of patients undergoing a surgical experience.
The RNFA functions within facility policies and guidelines and reports to the Director of Perioperative Services. The RNFA is an expanded role of the registered nurse and demonstrates leadership and professionalism in its implementation. This position is represented by CNA.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the perioperative setting.
- Assist under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in perioperative care.
- Demonstrate intraoperative competency as an RNFA (manual dexterity, suturing and ligating, hemostasis, exposing the surgical site, positioning, prepping and draping).
- Document clearly and concisely; report accurately; complete quality monitors as directed by the department manager.
- Follow infection control guidelines and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Participate in staff meetings; assist in the development and education of new staff members.
- Adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow; utilize department resources appropriately; minimize incidental overtime.
- Ensure accurate charging and documentation of patient charge items.
Education and
Work Experience:
Graduate of a school of nursing. Required RNFA course (didactic) completion. Three years of scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility. Annual surgeon review.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current RN license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. ACLS. CNOR certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) required. Registered Nurse license in state of practice required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or HS-ACLS or RQIACLS required. All other listed certifications with copy as needed.
