Position Overview

As the Manager of Consumer Insights, you will provide actionable insights that drive business growth, product innovation, and brand positioning. You will lead consumer and market research efforts, track consumer behavior, and support cross‑functional teams with data that influences marketing, product development, and sales strategies. The role involves leveraging internal capabilities and external agencies to gather and transform insights, ensuring data‑driven decisions across the organization.

This position offers flexibility in a hybrid environment (three days a week in our Westlake Village, CA office).

Responsibilities
  • Track consumer trends and interpret emerging market shifts related to preferences, flavors, packaging, and nutrition claims.
  • Monitor consumer sentiment through social listening, reviews, and survey data; identify trend shifts and leverage external agencies for in‑depth analysis.
  • Build detailed consumer segmentation profiles, identifying key target segments and their behaviors and motivations.
  • Identify market landscape opportunities by uncovering unmet consumer needs, non‑consumption areas, and white‑space innovation opportunities.
  • Map consumer decision trees and purchase behaviors across retail and e‑commerce touchpoints.
  • Assess consumer need states to identify occasions and motivations that drive purchasing decisions.
  • Translate research data into actionable insights for marketing, product development, and customer targeting.
  • Develop and manage an ongoing consumer insights learning agenda to support category teams.
  • Conduct consumer testing for innovation launches and product updates, collaborating with agencies for execution and analysis.
  • Produce detailed market and consumer insight reports to inform brand positioning, innovation, and strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or related fields, preferably in the CPG industry.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys, focus groups, and consumer testing.
  • Proficiency with consumer data analytics tools (e.g., Nielsen, SPSS).
  • Strong ability to translate data into strategic insights that drive business decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience presenting insights to cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing stakeholder needs.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with in the food or beverage industry.
  • Knowledge of digital tools for consumer tracking and data analytics.
  • Understanding of evolving consumer behavior, especially health, sustainability, and premiumization trends.
  • Experience working with and managing third‑party research agencies.

Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods; use office equipment; lift up to 15 pounds and reach overhead.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel may be required.
