Join as a General Manager at Clair Tappaan Lodge
, a historic mountain retreat nestled in the Sierra Nevada near Donner Summit. This hands‑on leadership role involves preserving the lodge’s rustic charm, community, and adventure while overseeing all aspects of operations, revenue generation, employee engagement, and guest satisfaction. The position supports the mission of the Aperture and Sierra Club, working closely with volunteers who contribute to the maintenance and integrity of the property.

• Coordinate housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage service, and guest reception departments to ensure a consistent, high‑quality guest experience and resolve complaints satisfactorily.
• Monitor local market and benchmark against the comp set, strategically calibrate rates to outperform competitors, and engage the local community through CVB, Chamber, and events.
• Hire, train, and develop new employees; delegate duties to maximize labor hours and minimize turnover.
• Maintain all departments and operations within budget, use conservative economics for supplies, and collaborate with ownership to create budgets and forecasts.
• Supervise weekly, monthly, and quarterly deep cleaning and preventive maintenance initiatives, submit purchase orders timely, and be on call 24 hours a day to assist with any issues.
• Ensure all equipment is correctly maintained, conduct and document inspections and drills, and comply with all codes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records to protect the asset, guests, and employees, and implement energy conservation programs to minimize expenses.
• Define the cost and scope of projects, oversee quality work at minimal costs, and secure necessary approvals for all expenditures.

• Minimum 2+ years of documented lodge and/or hotel management experience.
• Proficient in leveraging technology to effectively manage the property.
• Strong ability to take direction, manage employees, accomplish tasks independently, and pay attention to detail with little supervision.
• Excellent supervision, delegation, and multitasking skills.
• Calm demeanor and control in emergency or difficult situations.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends.
