Job Description and Duties
MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / EEL RIVER SECTOR
"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.
If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program)."
The Maintenance Aide reporting location is at 1600 US Hwy 101, Garberville, CA 95542, Richardson Grove State Park. The Maintenance Aide will be working under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
Maintenance Aides perform routine housekeeping and facility maintenance duties to keep the area and facilities, as assigned, in good repair. Maintenance Aides demonstrate the ability to follow directions; compute simple mathematical calculations; learn work procedures, park rules, and regulations; perform varied manual tasks; meet the public successfully; and take corrective action. Must be able to routinely lift 50 pounds and have ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers.
Experience in janitorial or housekeeping tasks is desired but not required. Position may assist Park Maintenance Workers in performing a variety of skilled maintenance projects.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
State housing may be required. Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements. Working Conditions
Primarily working outdoors and travelling between park units. This is a uniformed classification; uniform standards may be found in the Uniform Handbook Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as necessary. Prolonged standing, bending and sitting. Work inside and outside, in varying climates and temperatures. Transport equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Frequent walking on even and uneven surfaces.
