Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
Location: Keene
The Facilities Technician I is responsible for the general upkeep and repair of property facilities, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and systems are well-maintained and operational. This role involves a variety of tasks including landscaping, cleaning, performing routine maintenance, and responding to emergencies. The Maintenance Technician I ensures that all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and organizational policies .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain landscaping, including cutting grass, trimming bushes and trees, and managing planters and flower beds.
- Water and care for plants and trees to ensure the grounds remain aesthetically pleasing.
- Clean and maintain external areas of buildings, including washing windows, pressure washing exterior walls, and walkways keeping entrances tidy.
- Conduct regular interior cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, waxing, and dusting within all facilities.
- Empty trash cans, consolidate waste, and manage recycling efforts across the property.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including moving furniture and equipment.
- Manage cleanliness of facilities and trash disposal during events.
- Ensure event areas are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal, preparing and maintaining landscapes for planting and growth, trimming plants, clearing debris, pressure washing, and ensuring drainage and heating systems are ready for changing weather conditions.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks, such as irrigation repairs, replacing light bulbs, installing fixtures and appliances, building equipment, and basic plumbing fixes.
- Operate basic driving equipment, such as lawnmowers, and assist with the operation of other machinery under supervision.
- Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify and report potential maintenance issues.
- Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Track work orders and inventory to maintain accurate records.
- Assist with fire prevention duties, such as clearing brush, maintaining fire breaks, keeping exits clear, maintaining fire extinguishers, and ensuring that smoke detectors are functional.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not supervise any other staff.

- Familiarity with basic maintenance tasks, such as landscaping, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to operate basic tools and equipment, including lawnmowers and hand tools.
- Basic knowledge of safety and fire prevention practices.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and reporting maintenance activities.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Basic safety training or certification, such as OSHA 10-hour, is preferred.
- 1 year of experience in property maintenance or a related field, is preferred, but not necessary
Pay Rate
$20.00 to $23.00
