- Education:
High School diploma, completion of civilian or Air Force MILSATCOM or equivalent training/certification. - Two years of experience in MILSATCOM maintenance.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification required.
Operates and maintains the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM), Cryptographic, Administrative Telephone System (ATS), and Intrusion Detection Alarm System (IDAS) system. Also operates and maintains other mission communications such as TIMPLEX multiplexing and Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) telephone system. Ensures other mission communications will meet those operational availability requirements or goals as specified by the Performance Work Standard (PWS). Support all Telecommunications Monitoring and Assessment Program (TMAP), Communications Security (COMSEC) and TEMPEST requirements.
Perform message handling tasks as specified by the PWS. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the changing needs of contract performance.
- Operate and maintain the MILSATCOM terminal.
- Ensures MILSATCOM operational availability.
- Ensures all MILSATCOM requirements are satisfied, provides rapid diagnosis of failures and initiates and/or directs rapid restoral actions, examines system degradation, trends, and failures.
- Supports all TMAP, COMSEC, and TEMPEST requirements as designated.
- Reports system anomalies immediately to the IT/SATCOM Manager, effects repairs, and reports equipment status.
- Uses appropriate checklists, Technical Orders and Operational Instructions in the operation and repair of all MILSATCOM equipment.
- Maintains cryptographic, ATS, and IDAS equipment assigned.
- Ensures all site message traffic is processed correctly.
- Performs duties as COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) and/or Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO).
- Performs other duties as required.
- Responsibilities for Work of Others
- Supervision Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Satellite Communications Maintenance/Operations Technician Lead and IT/SATCOM Manager.
- Physical Tasks:
Exerts limited physical energy. May have to handle 20-30 pound loads on occasion. - Working Conditions:
Computing center environment. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends.
- Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
- Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance.
