Payroll Specialist

Description

This Payroll Specialist role supports a growing renewable energy organization with field crews, engineers, and corporate staff. Payroll here isn't cookie-cutter - it involves multiple pay types, project-based labor, and evolving compliance requirements. You'll partner closely with finance and operations to keep payroll accurate as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

+ Process payroll across multiple employee classifications

+ Manage project-based labor tracking and payroll allocation

+ Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll tax regulations

+ Prepare payroll reconciliations and variance reports

+ Support audits and internal compliance reviews

+ Maintain payroll data integrity across systems

+ Recommend improvements to payroll workflows and controls

Requirements

+ 4+ years of payroll processing experience

+ Exposure to utilities, construction-adjacent, or field-based payroll preferred

+ Strong Excel skills and payroll system proficiency

+ Analytical approach with strong attention to detail

+ Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
