Fred Finch Crisis Home in Jamul provides 24/7 non‑medical care to children. We have openings for the following:

What You Will Do

Under supervision, provide high‑quality, day‑to‑day care and supervision to participants at a residential or housing program to ensure well‑being and development of participants while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment in accordance with program regulations, Fred Finch policies and procedures, and accreditation standards; and perform related duties as assigned.

Shifts Available

Full time employment. Hours and days TBD.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) – education and experience must follow California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Personnel Requirements Section 87065:
  • Direct care staff shall meet one of the following requirements prior to employment:
  • Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree.
  • Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
  • Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
  • Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short‑term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.
  • Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements.
  • Direct care staff shall be at least 21 years of age.
Licenses and Certifications

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.

Crisis Home Education
  • High School Diploma
Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavior.
Licenses and Certifications (Crisis Home Only)
  • Positions in the Crisis Home must become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within 12 months of employment.
  • Complete online courses within a 180‑day period or be a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
  • Participate in RBT supervision as assigned.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
Housing Program Education
  • School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience
  • One year of providing support services or working in a residential or housing program with a similar population.
