Job Description
The Town of Beech Mountain is seeking a motivated, team-oriented, and professional Assistant Finance Officer to join our team in supporting the Town’s financial operations of a $17 million government operations including water and sewer utilities for our thriving unique four-season resort community serving residents and tourists with 69 full-time employees and an integral group of seasonal and part-time employees. Additionally, $22.5 million in FEMA Capital and Grant Projects and $20 million in other non-FEMA Capital Projects.
Total operating and Capital Project budget of $59.5 million. Reports to the Finance Officer with general direction and supervision based on broad goals and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in governmental, public, or similarly-related finance, strong leadership skills, and a conscientious and meticulous approach to work and public service. Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
ability to analyze and effectively present technical information; and a technological aptitude. - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, preferably in a municipal or governmental setting.
- Knowledge of North Carolina municipal finance laws and practices is a plus or ability to quickly grow knowledge and application.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- NCLGFO certification is highly desired.
