Description:
Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position. Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000-foot-high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno.
Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park and in El Portal. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal.

Position Overview:
The ACE Member will coordinate with the YOSE Volunteer Group to organize Facility specific volunteers and work groups. They will be the lead for organizing projects for VIPs to execute. They will be responsible for all aspects of the FM VIP program including organizing and scheduling, coordinating with internal FM groups, group training, safety, work planning, and execution. They will also cover field construction project checks to get a more in-depth knowledge of other Facilities work and project management.
This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.
Schedule:
The anticipated work schedule is 5/4/9, on a bi-weekly basis. It consists of 9-hour days x 4 days per week with one Friday every 2 weeks at 8 hours, the other Friday will be off. This schedule is negotiable and could be changed to 5 x 8-hour days a week or possibly to 4 x 10-hour days per week. All hours are in Pacific Time.
There is potential for weekend work if the need for group falls on weekends but not anticipated to be frequent. Outline of most likely/common schedule:
Week 1:
Mon-Thurs, 6:30am - 4:00pm, Fri, 6:30am - 3:00pm / Week 2:
Mon-Thurs, 6:30am - 4:00pm
Position Benefits
Living Allowance:
The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $1,000/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly.
Public Land Corps Hiring Authority:
Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a federal hiring authority upon completion of their term of service and 640 hours of service. If the duration of a PLC-eligible term is not long enough for Members to accrue 640 hours of service (~16 weeks), the total hours served at the completion of the term may be eligible to be combined with hours accrued from another PLC-eligible term to meet the 640 hours requirement.
PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age and citizenship. Please contact ACE staff with questions about eligibility, or view general eligibility information on our website.
This position is part of the Public Land Corps Hiring Authority:
Members serving under this agreement must meet the PLC Eligibility requirements to be considered for this position. Members may be eligible for a federal hiring authority upon completion of their term of service and 640 hours of service. If the duration of a PLC-eligible term is not long enough for Members to accrue 640 hours of service (~16 weeks), the total hours served at the completion of the term may be eligible to be combined with hours accrued from another PLC-eligible term to meet the 640 hours requirement.
PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age (You must be between the ages of 16 and 30. Some agencies also interpret these guidelines to include veterans up to age 35) and citizenship. Housing: ACE members will be accommodated in provided housing at the cost range of approximately $235-$611, varying on unit type, on a bi-weekly basis for the duration of the term.
Provided Training/Orientation: ACE members will receive position specific training and an orientation outlining ACE policies and procedures, clear guidance on prohibited activities, and networks for support. Specific training may include federal resume building and federal job search orientation.
