Biological Scientist; Environmental Security Clearance

Position: BIOLOGICAL SCIENTIST (ENVIRONMENTAL) with Security Clearance
Location: March Air Force Base

* Monitors and manages assigned environmental projects through application of professional knowledge and skill in general engineering, community planning (environmental), biological science (environmental), environmental engineering, physical science (environmental) practices, processes and techniques.
* Responsible for executing assigned projects, in-house and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local environmental laws and policies.
* Coordinates curricula and training for assigned program areas at the installation. Supports quality improvement and promotes the environmental awareness program.
* Provides advisory services on questions, issues, and projects in assigned program areas.
* Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and performs work that enhances the safety of the work environment. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* This is a Temporary position NTE 26 NOV 2026. The individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility (continued)

* This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position. Category:
Facilities Engineering (FE) GS-13 and below. This position has been designated and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). (Cont'd)
* The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements applicable to the career category designated on the position description within 24 months of (cont'd)
* assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (cont'd)
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
* May be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency. May be required to obtain job-related certifications.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
* This is a developmental position; this position may be filled at the GS-11 with promotion potential to the GS-12. This position may also be filled at the fully qualified GS-12 level based on the qualifications of the candidate. (cont'd)
