The Nevada Irrigation District (NID), established in 1921, is an independent special district headquartered in the historic town of Grass Valley, California, nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Serving a 287,000-acre area across Nevada and Placer counties, with additional facilities in Sierra and Yuba counties, NID is one of the largest districts in California. The district provides water for irrigation, municipal, domestic, and industrial uses, while managing an extensive reservoir and canal system, water treatment plants, and a unique 70,000-acre high mountain watershed.
Additionally, NID generates hydroelectric energy and supports outdoor public recreation for the community.
Assistant or Associate Engineer:
To perform professional engineering work involving the planning, design, and construction of improvements to District facilities, including dams, canals, and other water retaining and conveyance features; to ensure compliance with federal and state dam safety regulations; to perform condition assessments and inspections of District facilities; to conduct and review engineering studies; and to coordinate and oversee the work of consultants.
Qualifications
- Assistant Engineer
- Experience: One year of related professional experience is desirable.
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or a related field.
- License: Possession of valid California driver’s license.
- Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Engineer-in-Training.
- Experience: Three years of responsible experience similar to Assistant Engineer with the Nevada Irrigation District.
- Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or a related field.
- License: Possession of valid California driver’s license.
- Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in California.
